Datto’s state-of-the-art technology and hardware is the engine behind LSA’s fully automated Enhanced Backup and Disaster Recovery (EBDR) solution which is designed to keep your IT systems fully protected regardless of any loss or damage of your IT system.
The Datto technology provides unique functionality in the marketplace, giving the ability to virtualise one or all of your servers either locally, or in the cloud in the event of a minor or major issue.
- Image-Based Backup
Today’s businesses require a better backup solution. With more data being created, the value of the data increasing, stricter regulations, and no time for downtime—an image-based backup solution fits the bill better than older, outdated methods.
With image-based backup a picture of the workstation or server is taken and stored as a place in time for that machine. This is essential for restoration because rebuilding or virtualising a machine requires not just files but also the applications and systems. Backups are the size of the changed data between two points but hold the information to restore any piece of data that was on the machine at the time of the backup.
Additional advantages of image-based backup are: full restores are faster, can restore individual files, ability for bare metal restores (BMR), can verify images, boot virtual machines, and run remote offices.
Image-based backup is an integral component of a complete business continuity solution
- Instant Virtualisation On-Site and Off-Site
Backups can be virtualised locally on the Datto device or in the cloud, instantly, with the click of a button. This unique feature is a key component to intelligent business continuity. Should a local disaster occur, business can continue as usual in the Datto cloud.
- Hardware Upgrades
Datto devices now come standard with Solid State OS Drives for improved speed and reliability, Hot-Swappable Drive Bays for easy scalability, and RAID for added redundancy.
- Multiple Appliance Platforms
Datto SIRIS 2 now supports VMware as an appliance platform. Our Intelligent Business Continuity solution can now be purchased as a virtual appliance on virtual infrastructure in addition to our physical hardware.
All data is protected by AES 256 encryption both in transit and in the cloud. Additionally, users have the option to encrypt data locally, and pass phrases can be specified per appliance or per protected machine to meet compliance regulations.
- Centralised Management
Power is nothing without control, and Datto provides us with a refined toolkit for device and account management. A single pane of glass is used to configure devices, schedule backup reports, monitor off-site storage, set up alerts and much more.
- Advanced Deduplication and Compression
All data sent off-site is compressed using LZMA2 compression to ensure maximum efficiency and provide maximum efficiency even in low bandwidth and high network traffic environments.
- eDiscovery Software
eDiscovery gives us the ability to perform granular recoveries from Microsoft Exchange Server down to individual email and calendar entry. Powered by Ontrack® PowerControls™ from industry leader Kroll Ontrack, eDiscovery makes it easy to search documents, emails and attachments by keyword and restore exactly what you need.
Datto utilises the image-based ShadowSnap™ agent, developed in conjunction with StorageCraft. ShadowSnap is based on the premise of dual backup engines: application-aware VSS by default, with the engine as a safety net. ShadowSnap is particularly useful in performing bare metal restores as it supports dissimilar hardware.
AgentSync is Datto’s proprietary technology for quickly and efficiently transferring files to and from the cloud. It allows users to prioritise server backup order, pipeline recovery points, and set up multiple agents to sync off-site simultaneously. This provides greater data integrity, reduces network traffic, and keeps off-site backups up to date.
- Broad Operating System Support
Datto products support Microsoft Windows operating systems for almost any Windows PC or server that is still production today. Support currently ranges from Windows 2000 to Windows 8 and Server 2012.
- Bare Metal Restore
Brand new equipment can quickly and efficiently be built to replicate the failed machine through the Bare Metal Restore process. Transfers from physical machines to virtual (P2V) or vice versa are catered for with the unique dissimilar hardware tool that allows for maximum flexibility when restoring. No drives or cables are needed as the system can run completely over the network using the latest networking technology to increase speed and performance.
